In addition to celebrating 100 years, the group highlights partnerships with the Brazilian industry by providing cutting-edge technology products
From April 1 to 4, Safran will participate in LAAD 2025, one of the largest defense and security events in Latin America, held in Rio de Janeiro. Recognized worldwide, the group marks a century dedicated to designing and developing intelligent, versatile, and reliable systems and equipment in the fields of intelligence, decision support, protection, mobility, and precision strikes, on land, at sea, and in the air, all with the common goal of supporting national sovereignty with state-of-the-art technology.
Some of these products – such as avionics, observation systems, surveillance, and inertial navigation – are already integrated into strategic projects of the Brazilian Armed Forces and Public Security agencies.
Exclusive to Brazil
For the first time, Safran Electronics & Defense will showcase the SKYJACKER solution in Brazil – a counter-drone system designed for use by armed forces and security agencies on the battlefield and in sensitive installations. One of SKYJACKER’s key features is its unique spoofing capability: it alters a drone’s trajectory to neutralize threats by simulating GNSS signals, ensuring guidance toward a designated target. Combined with radar detection and optronic identification, this technology effectively counteracts both individual drones and drone swarms in land and naval environments, mitigating potential attacks. Additionally, it can neutralize remotely piloted drones at distances ranging from one to ten kilometers.
Another counter-drone technology to be displayed is HELMA-P, a laser-based defense system designed to neutralize or destroy drones and other aerial threats.
This high-power laser solution ensures precise drone interception, and it can be integrated with various detection and surveillance systems, including optical, radar, and acoustic sensors. While SKYJACKER and HELMA-P can operate independently, they can also be combined for enhanced effectiveness. Both systems were deployed for air defense during the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris last year.
Celebration
In addition to introducing new products to Brazil, Safran will also celebrate its successful partnership with HBR during the event. Safran supplies HBR with the high-precision EUROFLIR 410 electro-optical system, which equips Robinson R66 helicopters for the Brazilian market. The first two systems arrived in early March, and a third unit is on its way.
The EUROFLIR 410 is an airborne optronic system developed by Safran Electronics & Defense, designed to meet the needs of various aerial platforms – including helicopters, airplanes, aerostats, and drones. This equipment delivers unmatched observation performance thanks to the integration of ten sensors, a long-range telescope, and high-performance line-of-sight stabilization. Operating day or night, in any weather condition, it can be used for intelligence, surveillance, target designation, protection, intervention (ISR/ISTAR), and search and rescue (SAR) missions.
„During Safran’s 100th anniversary, which we celebrate in 2025, one of the milestones we take pride in is the successful partnerships we have established worldwide. In Brazil, it is no different: we have a strong partnership with the national industry, strengthening the group’s presence in the Brazilian market and paving the way for future sales. The EUROFLIR family is one of the products that exemplify this journey. Additionally, we will highlight our simulator, providing immersive experience for visitors in LAAD to witness firsthand the precision and superiority of the EUROFLIR 410. This is the perfect opportunity to understand how this cutting-edge technology can transform both civil and military aerial operations,“ highlighted David Montmasson, CEO of Safran Electronics & Defense Brazil.
Cutting-edge products
Among the many innovations developed by the group, other advanced products will also be shown at the event. Designed for naval applications, the VIGY is an electro-optical surveillance and reconnaissance system that combines high-resolution cameras and advanced sensors, enabling precise target monitoring and identification in maritime environments.
The VIGYis designed for integration into naval platforms such as ships and patrol vessels, providing long-range surveillance even in challenging conditions, including poor weather or nighttime operations. Utilizing thermal imaging technology and high-definition cameras, it can detect, track, and identify targets – making it ideal for security missions, maritime traffic control, and protection against threats such as unidentified vessels or drones.
Safran also offers GEONYX, the most compact Inertial Navigation System (INS) in its performance class. This innovative INS is designed to operate independently of external signals like GPS, making it essential for environments where navigation signals may be disrupted or unavailable – such as military missions or operations in remote and challenging terrains.
Safran will be present at booth D20, Pavilion 1, with executives from Safran Electronics & Defense Brasil, Safran Electronics & Defense (France), such as Alexandre Ziegler, Vice President, Martin Klotz, Public Affairs Director, Stephane Lauret, International Sales´ Senior Vice President and other key representatives from Canada and Switzerland.
