Follow-on Order for IDAS-2 Valued at €33.7 Million
Saab has received a follow-on order from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for the Integrated Defensive Aids Suite (IDAS-2) self-protection suite to equip the Indian Army’s DHRUV helicopter. The order is valued at approx SEK350 million (€33.7 million), the company announced on 8 August. Production will take place at Saab’s Centurion, South Africa facilities and the systems will be delivered from 2019.
IDAS is designed to provide platform self-protection for rotary- and fixed-wing aircraft in sophisticated, diverse and dense threat environments. It has achieved operational success with a growing list of customers in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East and is in use on helicopters and commercial transport aircraft as well as combat aircraft.
“The system has a long and successful history with proven capability on many airborne platforms. This order strengthens our position as a supplier of high-tech systems to the Indian Armed Forces,” commented head of Saab Grintek Defence, Trevor Raman.
“This follow-on order confirms our successful partnership with HAL and further establishes Saab as a local partner to the Indian industry,” added the head of Saab’s surveillance business area, Anders Carp.
