Saab Continues Support for SK60 Fleet

€83 Million Contract 2020-2025

Saab announced on 20 May that the company has extended its existing maintenance and support contract for the Saab 105 trainer aircraft with the Swedish armed forces.

Designated the SK60 in Swedish service, the aircraft first flew in 1963 and has been in continuous service with the Swedish armed forces – in which it is used primarily for training – since 1967. The renewed contract takes effect from 1 July 2020 until 2025, with an additional optional year in 2026. The initial order value amounts to MSEK 875 (€82.9 million).

The extended support agreement means that Saab will continue to serve as the primary supplier, responsible for the operation, maintenance and availability of all SK60 aircraft in Swedish service. The commitment calls for Saab to ensure that the system is airworthy and readily available for Swedish Air Force Wings’ requirements. The agreement is a continuation of a similar contract signed in 2015. The Mönch World Defence Almanac indicates the Swedish Air Force currently operates 46 SK60.

This contract ensures that the Swedish fighter pilots continue to get really good training, due to the Air Force’s SK60 fleet being available for several years to come,” commented Ellen Molin, Head of Saab’s Support and Services business area.
