RUAG Wins Communications Contract for Bundeswehr

55 TAN to Provide Interoperable Connectivity

RUAG has won a contract under a Bundeswehr ‘immediate operational requirement initiative’ for 55 interoperable communications solutions based on the Tactical Access Node (TAN) device, the company announced on 5 March.

With RUAG’s Multinational Interoperable Radio Connection Point, the German armed forces will be able to ensure technically flawless cooperation in future missions with participating nations, thus make a significant contribution to security. The systems on offer, at the core of which sits RUAG’s TAN, transmit interoperable, secure voice and data and are intended for both highly mobile and stationary use.

RUAG’s TAN is a field-proven solution and has already demonstrated its functionalities in multiple applications. Embedded in special containers designed for operation, transport and storage, it ensures communication between disparate radio and data systems. A total of 55 TANs are to be supplied, each with three radio connections and three antenna systems. This provides a modular, robust, and highly mobile solution for all Bundeswehr operational scenarios, in similar fashion to NATO’s Enhanced Forward Presence in Lithuania, where RUAG’s TAN has been deployed since 2017.
