RUAG International Avionics Upgrade for Bundeswehr Dornier 228

Navy-operated Aircraft on Marine Pollution Duties

RUAG MRO International has upgraded the Bundeswehr’s two Dornier 228 aircraft, used for pollution control missions, to ADS-B Out standards, the company announced on 14 October.

RUAG completed the avionics upgrade in July last year, with a specialist team at German Naval Air Wing 3, at Nordholz, subsequently implementing the integration during scheduled maintenance in December 2019 and August this year.

Trust, reliability and direct access to OEM support, as with these ADS-B upgrade kits, are crucial for our network of operators and customers. They provide essential services, now more than ever, and their mission and operational success is our priority,” commented Michael Franz, the company’s Director Customer Support Dornier 228.

Both aircraft serve the German Navy from the Nordholz base to monitor marine pollution in the North and Baltic Seas: operational flexibility is thus essential, as the multirole platforms operate across national borders and coastal waters in support of surveillance missions, maritime emergencies and search and rescue operations.
