Ammunition and Weapons Manufacturers to Make Broader Offerings

Switzerland’s RUAG Ammotec and Croatian weapons manufacturer HS Produkt are to team for joint approaches to future opportunities, the Thun-based company announced on 20 November.

The agreement was finalized in July after months of preparatory work and detailed discussions. It represents an important first step in establishing a new strategic direction for RUAG Ammotec. With an enviable reputation as a European market leader for small-calibre ammunition, pyrotechnics and components, the RUAG division is also a leader in priming technologies free of heavy metals, used in actuator cartridges for automotive safety systems, for example. Its precision ammunition geared to the demanding requirements of special forces are in high demand around the world.

The relationship between the two companies is an informal one, based on mutual self-interest. HS Produkt, which manufactures reliable and high-quality weapon systems, will benefit from RUAG’s market reach and network: RUAG will build up an expanded portfolio of reliable weapons, scopes and silencers to add to its existing range of ammunition. “When participating in a tender, we want to offer a complete package in the future,” the company told MON.

HS Produkt is structured with the highest demands on its own products, so that they fit perfectly into the portfolio,” explained Martin Neujahr, Senior VP of RUAG Ammotec’s Defence & Law Enforcement business unit.
