RTTEC Series: Trijicon

Selected Industrial Views with Stephen Bindon, President and CEO, Trijicon, Inc.

On the occasion of SHOT Show 2017, MILITARY TECHNOLOGY publishes the Second Annual Rugged Tactical Tools for Extreme Conditions (RTTEC) Series that conveys the thoughts and messages of the world’s tactical equipment leaders, according to the question: “As soldiers and Special Forces operators expect their gear to be 100% reliable, how do you step up to offer extremely durable, rugged gear to keep operations running?

Trijicon has been a leader in the development of any-light aiming systems since its founding in 1981. World-renowned for its innovative applications of tritium and advanced fibre optics, the technology developed by Trijicon for its riflescopes and sights are consistently chosen by the most advanced military units.

Introduced in 1987, the Trijicon ACOG (Advanced Combat Optical Gunsight) has earned the trust and confidence of those who are most in need of aiming accuracy and dependability. Backed by a Limited-Lifetime Warranty, the Trijicon ACOG is battle-proven and is currently in use by the USMC, US Army, US Special Operations Forces, US government, US state and local Law Enforcement agencies, along with numerous allied countries around the world.

The ACOG is a fixed-magnification optic that was designed for a single purpose: to provide increased hit potential in all lighting conditions. With its dual-illuminated reticle, the Trijicon ACOG provides shooters with a distinct aiming point in all light conditions – without batteries. Powered by a tritium-phosphor lamp, the gun sight’s reticle glows in low-light/no-light conditions, while advanced fibre optics automatically adjust the brightness level and contrast of the reticle in brighter light conditions. Most models feature a unique calibre-specific reticle pattern that provides quick target acquisition at close combat ranges while delivering enhanced target identification and hit probability at extended ranges utilising a built-in Bullet Drop Compensator (BDC) reticle.

Many models also incorporate the innovative Bindon Aiming Concept (BAC). This revolutionary, both-eyes-open aiming method provides users with “instinctive” target acquisition and increased hit potential.

Rugged Design with Superior Quality Components

The Trijicon ACOG combines robust engineering with premium components to deliver a battle-ready sight for all conditions. A rugged aluminium-alloy housing combined with Mil-spec construction produces a waterproof/fog-proof unit that’s second to none in durability. Premium, fully multi-coated optics provide a sharp, bright image for better target identification while precise click adjustments assure uncomplicated sight-in with consistent shot-after-shot accuracy even in adverse conditions.

Versatility

Trijicon offers the ACOG in magnification and sizes ranging from 1.5×16 to 6×48 in a variety of reticle configurations and colour options to match any combat or tactical situation.

Trijicon also offers a 3.5×35 and 4×32 LED ACOG that provides enhanced control with six user-selectable levels of reticle intensity for changing conditions. Thanks to Trijicon’s engineering advancements in optical efficiency, the LED ACOG provides over 12,000 hours of red or green illumination from one AA battery.

The ACOG has been optimised to incorporate Trijicon’s RMR (Ruggedised Miniature Reflex) sight and most models are fully night vision device compatible.
