Annual SHOT Show Rugged Tactical Tools for Extreme Conditions: Israel Weapon Industries

RTTEC Selected Industrial Views

On the occasion of SHOT Show 2019, MILITARY TECHNOLOGY published the third Annual Rugged Tactical Tools for Extreme Conditions (RTTEC) Series that conveys the thoughts and messages of the world’s tactical equipment leaders, according to the question: “How is your company (through your products/solutions) able to protect/help the Special Forces/Law Enforcement Operator?” For printed version, please pick up a magazine  at the show. Here is Ronen Hamudot’s, Vice President Marketing and Sales at Israel Weapon Industries (IWI), answer.

The Design and development process at Israel Weapon Industries (IWI) is conducted through close cooperation with the various Special Forces units of the IDF. The result is a continuous weapons’ adaptation to evolving needs. Based on the information and data from the operating forces’ activity, IWI provides alternative yet universal weaponry solutions, which are suited to various weapons and to different forces, in Israel and worldwide.

IWI’s basic principle in their constant – and successful – effort to provide Special Forces with equipment that best meets their most current operational needs is staying tuned to and in-touch with the real-time feedback the company’s design and development teams get from the field. Our R&D specialists are Special Forces’ veterans, who bring into the design process their personal knowledge, experience, and understanding of these needs, along with a daily feedback they get from their comrades in service as well as their own feedback as active reserves warriors. Along with its sister-company Meprolight, IWI puts special efforts and investment into the definition and development of weapons- accessories to meet with current warriors’ challenges as they are revealed in battle. These include electro-optical and optical sights and devices, night vision sights and observation systems, thermal sights, fire control systems, and other self-illuminated products and accessories.

As a company that strives to adapt its products to the needs of the modern and price-conscious market, IWI develops mission and maintenance cost-effective solutions. Our main target is to develop weapons that are easily adjusted to various missions’ profiles as is often required in Special Forces operations. In addition, we try to apply durable materials to withstand harsh environmental conditions and to extend the weapon’s life while maintaining a high level of performance. We keep improving the human interface, enabling users to easily operate and maintain their weapon in battle. All of that also turns into saving and efficiency in years to come.

One example of this IWI approach is the Micro-TAVOR (X95), which was first introduced in 2006. Since then and to date this weapon has been constantly upgraded both in performance and in maintenance. The same goes for the ACE Assault Rifle Family, just as it applies to all the IWI arsenal of products, which are regularly being upgraded and improved according to missions and needs. IWI is currently busy with the development of new products, to be introduced in the near future.
