Annual SHOT Show Rugged Tactical Tools for Extreme Conditions: 5.11 Tactical

RTTEC Selected Industrial Views

On the occasion of SHOT Show 2019, MILITARY TECHNOLOGY published the third Annual Rugged Tactical Tools for Extreme Conditions (RTTEC) Series that conveys the thoughts and messages of the world’s tactical equipment leaders, according to the question: “How is your company (through your products/solutions) able to protect/help the Special Forces/Law Enforcement Operator?” For printed version, please pick up a magazine  at the show. Here’s 5.11 Tactical‘s response:

At 5.11 Tactical, we are innovators who make purpose-built gear to meet the needs of life’s most demanding missions. Protecting our law enforcement operators and Special Forces is of the utmost priority within 5.11 Tactical – we take this responsibility seriously and have several ways in which we design gear and apparel with the highest levels of safety, quality, durability, functionality and performance.

In order to provide apparel and gear that meet the needs of the most demanding situations, 5.11 Tactical utilises end-user testing and feedback for every one of our products. Whether the gear is designed for the range or the front lines, 5.11 Tactical values the experience and expertise of our operators and treats each product with the same level of scrutiny and performance testing. 5.11 Tactical accesses an incredible network of military, first responders and operators to conduct our end-user testing, and takes their feedback to make further changes to products before sending them into the market. The gear and apparel customers are purchasing from 5.11 Tactical have been designed with the highest levels of thought, consideration and attention to detail in mind. There is no better way for us to keep our operators safe, than by integrating their feedback.

5.11 Tactical’s new AMP bags and carriers with its patented HEXGRID platform is a good example of how 5.11 Tactical works to innovate around operational problem sets. This new system solves many old operational problems around carrying and deploying equipment as well as how to easily customise gear for specific missions.

While 5.11 Tactical has a large product offering available for general purchase through our sales team, e-commerce, company-owned retail and wholesale partners, a large portion of our products don’t make it to the public, nor do we feature them in catalogues or our website. 5.11 Tactical specially crafts products for teams and agencies globally through our Special Projects Division. Many of these projects involve a significant amount of research and design to solve problem sets found by our customers out in the field. These innovative solutions give our operators a functional advantage. Ultimately, many of these customised solutions and product innovations find their way to products featured within our larger product collection. Working closely on special projects with some of the best teams and agencies in the world is part of how we drive innovations that keep officers and operators safer.

In addition to our Special Projects Division, 5.11 Tactical owns Beyond Clothing. Beyond is an expeditionary and survival brand works with special forces teams around the country to meet their clothing and gear systems needs.

In addition to end-user testing, 5.11 Tactical uses the latest in product innovation through design and fabrication technologies to provide superior-performing, durable and comfortable product. 5.11 Tactical is constantly exploring new design elements to achieve optimal functionality and fit of our professional apparel and gear. 5.11 Tactical partners with many fabrication technology leaders within the apparel and gear industry leaders in an effort to provide unparalleled quality, durability and performance of our products.

Heading into 2019, we at 5.11 Tactical are enthusiastically committed to serving our operators by designing and delivering great purpose-built gear that provides them a greater operational advantage.
