Sonar Measurement and Calibration Systems
RTSYS has received a contract from Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) for the delivery of two SIERA systems for calibration of the Indian Navy’s new-generation hull-mounted and variable depth sonars, the company announced on 17 February.
SIERA is a lightweight autonomous sonar measurement and calibration system, towed at variable immersion depths from a dedicated boat, enabling the performance of both active and passive sonar system to be measured, in real time or via subsequent signal processing. The system caters for hull-mounted, variable depth, dipping and submarine sonars, as well as sonobuoys.
Easy to deploy, SIERA is well-known to the most reputable sonar manufacturers and shipyards, many of whom use the system for their own performance assessment during sea acceptance trials, relying on the range of acoustic emissions coverage – from 500Hz to 32kHz.
The Indian contract confirms RTSYS’ position as a key supplier to navies and marine authorities worldwide for a range of important functionalities.
