Persistent Surveillance and 360° Coverage
RT LTA System’s SkyStar 180 tactical aerostat systems are being used by Tokyo Police to help secure and maintain public safety during the delayed Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics, the company announced on 29 July.
Being used for law enforcement, public safety, event traffic and crowd control, the aerostats have been integrated into the Tokyo Metropolitan Police’s C2 centre and are positioned at select locations some 150m above ground level. High quality video footage is then relayed in real time to the C2 centre.
SkyStar aerostats deliver persistent surveillance, information-gathering, accurate target allocation, 360° stabilised coverage, and full digital recordings of mission video and data. Enabling continuous day and night operation at 1,000ft for up to 72hrs, at wind velocities of up to 40kts, they require only 20mins for a helium refill. Based on towable trailers, the easy-to-operate and cost-effective systems can carry up to 18kg in payload.
“Our SkyStar family is used by [homeland security], law enforcement and police units for defence and security applications as well as public safety, police and military applications around the world,” commented Rami Shmueli, CEO of the Yavne, Israel-based company.
