From Helicopters to EW, UAS and Firearms
At the Army 2019 exhibition outside Moscow last month, Rostec State Corporation exhibited a range of over 1,000 separate pieces of military equipment: armoured vehicles, helicopters, unmanned aerial systems (UAS), artillery and ammunition, advanced firearms, communications systems, electronic warfare (EW) systems and more.
Among the new products presented were the AU-220M 57mm remote controlled weapon station (RCWS) for ground and naval platforms, the POST-ZM signals intelligence station, the SOSNA missile mounted on a BMP-3 chassis, a TYPHOON-K armored vehicle with the KORNET-EM anti-tank missile, the PALADIN robotic system, new 125mm tank ammunition, the KORSAR UAS and new firearms, including several modifications of the UDAV pistol. All the corporation’s key holding companies were present at the event, which saw close to a million people in attendance, according to Rostec estimates. These included High Precision Systems, UralVagonZavod, Tecmash, TsNIITochMash, Russian Helicopters, United Engine Corporation, KRET, Ruselectronics, Shvabe and Avtomatika.
Speaking prior to the event in explaining the corporation’s attendance, Rostec CEO, Sergey Chemezov, stated “This year we’ve invited delegations from over 100 countries to take part in Army 2019, official meetings will be held with 70 of them on the sidelines of the Forum. I would like to point out, that the level of representation of partner countries is quite high this year: over 30 of them are headed by defence ministers, their deputies and chiefs of the general staff. We will present them over 1,000 pieces of advanced weapons, armour, helicopter, artillery and other technology. We will also demonstrate modern ammunition, domestic firearms, communication, electronic warfare and intelligence systems. Russia confidently continues to occupy second place in the world by the volume of arms exports. In 2018, Rosoboronexport’s deliveries amounted to $13.7 billion [€12.2 billion] and export portfolio exceeded $50 billion, which are a new record for us. In many ways, these numbers are achieved via active marketing through such platforms as the Army Forum.”
