MBDA signs MoU with Romanian Romarm group for the design of tactical missile systems
During the visit of French President Emmanuel Macron in Romania on 24 August, MBDA signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Romanian state-owned defence group Romarm and its subsidiary Electromecanica Ploiesti.
The MoU will allow the three parties to respond to the operational requirements of the Romanian Armed Forces for land based air defence systems by defining and presenting the best French proposal for state of the art tactical missile systems. This will sustain, in accordance with the Supreme Council of National Defence (CSAT) requirements, the development of the Romanian defence industry through industrial co-operation, local production and transfer of technology, in line with the European initiative of Permanent Structured Cooperation (PESCO). It will also constitute an important step in the reinforcement of the European industrial pillar of NATO.
The MoU was signed in the framework of the Strategic Agreement between Romania and France, and both President Macron and Romanian President Klaus Iohannis witnessed the signature of this MoU.
