Converts Gravity Bombs to Precision Guided Munitions
Following a number of successful flight tests in 2018, Roketsan’s TEBER laser guidance conversion kit has entered service with the Turkish armed forces, which are deploying the system from F-16s, the company announced on 15 March.
TEBER is a low-cost laser guidance conversion kit that can be attached to MK-81 (250 lb) and MK-82 (500 lb) general purpose bombs, converting them into precision smart weapons using Inertial Navigation System (INS), Global Positioning System (GPS) and laser seeker technologies.
The TEBER’s tail section automatically identifies the bomb to which it is fitted and the kit s,an be installed and brought into service very quickly in the field. It contains GPS/INS for precise guidance and aerodynamic control surfaces for weapon manoeuvring capability.
The system’s modular design offers affordable options, including a laser seeker mounted on the forward section, allowing for precision engagements of ground or maritime targets at ranges of 2-28km. The seeker may also be equipped with a ‘height of burst’ sensor.
