€27million Contract Also Includes 120mm Ammunition
Rheinmetall has been awarded a contract worth around €27million ($30.6million) to upgrade the Bundeswehr’s 120mm mortars, enabling them to fire new-generation rounds.
The work will involve adding obturation rings to the mortar tubes, and is due to be completed by 2023. Delivery of some 120mm ammunition is also part of the agreement. The order was booked in 2021 and Rheinmetall has already supplied DM75 NG multispectral rounds and DM56 NG infra-red illumination rounds.
