It follows another order booked last week by from German Bundeswehr
Rheinmetall booked a further order of over 150,000 rounds of artillery ammunition for Ukraine following a third call-off under a framework agreement with the German Bundeswehr, the company has announced on 10 October.
The order, worth “a figure in the mid-three-digit million-euro range”, encompasses thousands of 155mm shells from Rheinmetall Expal Munitions, the new Spanish subsidiary of the Group, as well as additional DM 121 high-explosive rounds. Even though the customer is the German government, all the ammunition is earmarked for Ukraine.
In July, Rheinmetall announced the signing of a new framework agreement for artillery ammunition with the Bundeswehr and the expansion of an existing agreement amid urgent needs to replenish countries’ stocks after sending ammunition to Ukraine. The contract concerns the delivery of several hundred thousand shells, fuses and propelling charges. The deal represents a gross potential order volume of about €1.2 billion.
Last week, another order for 155 artillery ammunition was booked after a second call-off under the framework agreement, involving tens of thousands of L15 rounds and conventional 155mm Assegai shells for the German military. According to the Group, the order was in “the lower three-digit million-euro range” figure, and delivery is expected in 2024.
The first order came immediately after the framework agreement with the German Bundeswehr was signed.
