Revision Helmets for USSOCOM

Revision receives contract to develop Advanced Technology Demonstration Helmet

Even as United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) continues to evaluate industry proposals for their next Family of Tactical Headborne Systems (FTHS), the command’s Science & Technology arm awarded Revision an 18-month, $1,813,065 contract to develop an Advanced Technology Demonstration Helmet. It is currently not know if other conterdors have received similar technology demonstrator concepts.

The award is based upon USSOCOM-BAAST-2015 Appendix J, Amendment 14 published on 20 April 2017 under the BAA’s area of interest, Topic 4.4 Optical Electronics. In July 2016, Revision was awarded a similar contract for the advancement of headborne systems technologies.

At SOFIC 2017, Revision showcased its Special Operations Forces (SOF) helmet suite addressinf SOCOM’s technical challenges head on: optimised weight, protection, and mobility indices and system component integration. Revision has developed two cutting-edge helmet systems: a Carbon Bump System and a Ballistic System with liner system, rails, and Wilcox Mount. Revision’s Carbon Bump helmet can be ballistically-enabled—add-on armor appliques up the protection level for ballistic, blunt-force, blast-force, and fragmentation threats. And, the skeletonisation of all system components has significantly reduced the overall weight of these helmet systems. Revision’s FTHS head systems showcased at SOFIC represents the culmination of an intensive ground-up design and development programme, dating back to the beginning of 2016, as well as exhaustive testing, analysis, and trials. Communicating with esteemed SOF operators, from across the Special Forces spectrum, Revision created a head systems suite tailored to the experience and feedback of SOF operators.
