Newly-Launched Teal 2 Features in Order
Red Cat Holdings is to supply 200 long-range, high-speed first person view (FPV) drones to Ukraine, the company confirmed on 10 May. Delivery will be effected next month.
Featuring a high power-to-weight ratio, the drones offer increased manoeuvrability and are able to operate in GPS-denied conditions. “Fortunately, Red Cat has the US manufacturing capacity required to quickly deliver on such orders,” explained CEO Jeff Thompson, adding the new Teal 2 would be among the aircraft provided. “Much of drone activity is performed at night, and the Teal 2 is at the forefront of night time drone capabilities.”
Officially launched in April this year, Teal 2, developed by subsidiary company Teal Drones, features the Hadron 640R sensor from Teledyne FLIR, offering operators high resolution thermal imaging in a compact drone optimised for night-time operations. Other industrial partners in the Teal 2 programme include Athena AI, Reveal Technology and Tomahawk Robotics.
