Raytheon Wins $108 Million Afghan Air Force Training Contract

Maintenance Training Will Boost Self-Sufficiency

Raytheon announced on 1 August that the US Army has awarded the company a contract valued at $108 million (€97.8million) to develop a new training programme to support the Afghan Air Force.

Known as Afghanistan Air Force Aircraft Maintenance Training (AMT), the programme will train Air Force personnel in maintenance training for the aircraft flown by the service. Under the purview of the US Army Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training and Instrumentation, the AMT contract is awarded under the previously-announced Enterprise Training Services Contract (ETSC), which provides core training services to combatant commands, supporting their training of security cooperation partners. The new training program will be directed by the Combined Security Transition Command-Afghanistan and Train, Advise, Assist Command-Air.

Our training is helping the Afghan military develop into a self-sustaining force […] The program will increase the Afghanistan Air Force’s capabilities and help ensure future security,” stated Raytheon Intelligence, Information and Services Vice President of Global Training Solutions, Bob Williams.
