Raytheon to Upgrade US Air Force Air & Space Operations Centres

$375 Million Over Six Years to Update and Upgrade Software

Raytheon has been awarded a $375 million initial six-year contract to upgrade the US Air Force’s (USAF) Air & Space Operations Centre Weapon System (AOC WS). The modernisation and sustainment effort will improve air and space C2. Raytheon will update the existing AOC WS baseline software and develop and deploy new software upgrades to improve capabilities within the system, which provides a strategic capability for the USAF, with operators at 22 global locations using it to command and control aircraft through all of the Air Force’s critical missions.

“Raytheon will use our unmatched cyber, automation and analytics expertise to modernise the Air Force’s weapons system, providing an advantage in everything from security to actionable insight in the digital battlespace,” Dave Wajsgras, President of Raytheon Intelligence, Information and Services (IIS), commented.

Raytheon’s innovative modernisation through sustainment approach incrementally improves systems without interruption to critical missions,” Todd Probert, Vice President of Mission Support and Modernisation at Raytheon IIS, explained. “In addition, the use of software development best practices, such as Agile and DevOps, speeds up the delivery of these systems to the warfighter.”
