Raytheon Awarded Production Contract for Polish PATRIOT

Company to Build and Deliver Four Fire Units

The US department of Defense (DoD) announced on 25 September that the US Army has awarded Raytheon a contract valued at over $1.5 billion for production of the PATRIOT Integrated Air and Missile Defence (IAMD) systems for Poland.

The contract, which covers spare parts, support and training, calls for the company to build and deliver four PATRIOT fire units to Poland. The contract is for Phase I of WISLA, Poland’s medium-range IAMD procurement. Under Phase II, Poland has the potential to acquire additional PATRIOT fire units and has expressed interest in gallium nitride-based 360° active electronically scanning array (AESA) radars and SkyCeptor™, a low-cost interceptor missile.

PATRIOT will enhance Polish, European and NATO security while creating jobs in Poland and the US,” commented Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems’ Vice President of Integrated Air and Missile Defense, Tom Laliberty.

PATRIOT is the backbone of NATO and Europe’s defence against ballistic and cruise missiles, advanced aircraft and drones. Fifteen nations depend on PATRIOT to protect their citizens and armed forces, including the US and six other European nations: Germany, Greece, the Netherlands, Spain, Romania and Sweden.
