2,000 Systems Delivered Over Ten Years
Raytheon announced on 31 July iy has received a $96.1 million contract from the US Air Force for 250 Miniature Air0Launched Decoy (MALD) missiles. Raytehon will shortly celebrate delivering its 2,000th MALD system over a ten-year period of ontime deliveries.
MALD is an air-launched missile with both decoy and jamming capabilities that can electronically stimulate and then neutralise enemy air defence systems. Raytheon produces the MALD-J jamming variant, and is also developing a system for the US Navy.
“MALD gives fighter pilots control of the skies, so they can stay out of harm’s way,” commented Raytheon Air Warfare Systems Vice President, Mike Jarrett. “We’re at the leading edge of electronic warfare, to defeat the most advanced air defence systems.”
