Raptor Photonics Launches OWL 640 T

World’s First SWaP-Optimised ½” VGA Sensor with VIS-SWIR Response

Raptor Photonics, based in Northern Ireland, launched the OWL 640 T last month – an Indium-Gallium Arsenide (InGaAs)-based camera suitable for a variety of mounted and/or handheld applications.

Boasting 640×512 resolution, a 10×10µm pixel pitch and less than 50 electrons readout noise, the camera features a high intra-scene dynamic range of 69dB, enabling simultaneous capture of bright and dark portions of a scene. It is an ideal solution for the mini-UAS and gimbal market, as well as for handheld integrated systems.

The camera, with a ½in sensor format, embodies optimal size, weight and power consumption (SWaP) characteristics, making it ideal for OEM integration into electro-optical systems for military and security applications. Compatible with VIS-SWIR illuminators, markers and pointers, its low readout noise enables high VIS-SWIR detection limits; onboard automated gain control results in clear video under all light conditions; and an intelligent 3-point NUC offers operators the highest quality stills.
