Well-Suited to C-UAS Role
Rafael is to supply an unspecified number of its Typhoon MK30-C naval remote weapon station (NRWS) to an undisclosed Asian navy, the company revealed on 7 December. The contract includes options for the supply of additional systems at a later date.
The systems, valued at “tens of millions of dollars,” will be supplied over the next five years. Featuring AI and automatic fire correction for effective defeat of small and medium UAS, the Typhoon Mk30-C mounts the highly reliable Northrop Grumman Bushmaster Mk44S 30mm cannon and its advanced ammunition, offering superior capability in countering a wide variety of airborne threats. Rafael has a global installed base of over 750 Typhoon family stabilised NRWS.
“Our naval applications integrate the groundbreaking combat-proven technologies found in Rafael’s systems across a multitude of domains, such as AI and advanced computer vision,” commented VP of Rafael’s Naval Warfare Systems Directorate, Ran Tavor.
