Polaris Wins Contracts in Latvia and Turkmenistan

Border Security and Special Operations Forces Principal Beneficiaries

Polaris Government and Defense announced on 24 January that it has won contracts with Latvia and Turkmenistan for a range of its tactical vehicles.

In Latvia the company has signed a two-year agreement with the armed forces for supply of undisclosed quantities of MRZR 2, SPORTSMAN 6×6 and MV850 all-terrain vehicles (ATV). Valued at US$500,000, the order falls under the US Foreign Military Sales programme and will include spare parts and in-country training. The vehicles will be used primarily for border security, according to Polaris.

Latvia’s contract for MRZR 2 and ATVs will greatly enhance the mobility of their fleet in the Baltics, positively impacting their tactical advantage and support efforts to reinforce Latvia borders,” commented Doug Malikowski, the company’s Director of International Business Development.

The order from Turkmenistan is a muli-million dollar procurement of military and commercial vehicles from that nation’s Special Operations Forces.  “Polaris is looking forward to supporting the Government of Turkmenistan and their defense forces as they update their ground vehicle fleet with Polaris lightweight tactical vehicles. The vehicles we provide are highly transportable, off-road capable and are relied on for helping Special Forces navigate restrictive and complex environments,” Malikowski stated.
