PMRExpo 2018: Motorola Solutions

Motorola supports security agencies through artificial intel

At PMRExpo, Motorola Solutions showcases its complete portfolio of safety-critical solutions, among them digitised technology solutions based partly on artificial intelligence (AI). Through video surveillance and analysis, security agencies can quickly clear up and avoid incidents. The company pitches the next generation of its video analytics and network management solutions based on Avigilon Appearance SearchTM technology and Avigilon Unusual Motion Detection (UMD) technology. The former is a sophisticated video search engine with deep learning and AI, analysing several hours of video footage to search a defined location for a specific person or vehicle. Users can choose different physical features, such as the colour of the clothing and the gender, to search for a specific person. Avigilon Appearance Search technology also takes facial features into account, allowing the user to search for the same person, even if the clothing changes. UMD technology is described by Motorola Solutions as an „advanced, AI-based technology that gives surveillance an entirely new level of automation by uncovering events, [which] would otherwise go undetected.“

In Cologne, Motorola Solutions also shows its brand-new compact ST7500 TETRA digital radio for the first time. Combining a compact and robust shape with a small screen that is easy to read even in bright sunlight, it offers an ‚easy-to-use‘ keyboard that can be operated with gloves, as well as an intuitive user interface and high audio quality. This feature allows police officers and rescue workers to communicate reliably. According to Motorola Solutions, the number of TETRA applications worldwide has increased by 16% in 2017. TETRA has established itself as the leading technology for security organisations, especially in the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East, Africa). While TETRA will continue to be used primarily for safety-critical voice services, mobile broadband technologies such as LTE are the basis for numerous applications. This not only increases the safety and responsiveness of emergency crews, but also their productivity. Pioneering technologies such as Motorola Solutions‘ DIMETRA X Core and DIMETRA Express TETRA systems enable security agencies to better exploit the potential of their existing TETRA networks and, in the future, to benefit from the functions of mobile broadband networks.

In addition to this, Motorola Solutions presents its WAVE broadband push-to-talk application from its expanded control centre software suite. The platform connects different networks and allows users to communicate with each other at security agencies and companies – whether they use smartphones, radios, computers or landline phones.

Motorola Solutions is changing the work of security agencies and providing them with software that consistently helps them deal with an incident,“ says Axel Kukuk, Sales Manager for Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Luxembourg at Motorola Solutions Germany GmbH. „We automate tasks and equip emergency crews with critical data and information so they can focus on their work and better protect people.“
