Plath Announces Upgraded SIR 2115 Receiver

Frequency Extension and Memory Buffer Added

Plath’s Signal Products division has announced a range of improvements to its SIR 2115 wideband monitoring receiver.

The company says the device now boasts an extended RF coverage to 6GHz, meaning the device now covers everything from VLF to SHF in the spectrum; a new bandwidth selection set has been added; and the device now has a 15s memory buffer for its 20 narrowband digital down converters (DDCs).

These improvements will allow operators and system integrators to improve the signal-to-noise ratio, ensuring they are better able to pick out signals of interest from noisy RF backgrounds. The addition of the memory buffer means operators will be able to reduce the risk of missing the beginning of a signal, which is often the part of a transmission that contains the most important information.

Modularity objectives are driving configurability needs as systems of systems need to be more widely adaptable to application scenarios,” said Dr Ronald Meixner, Plath Signal Products CEO. “The SIR 2115 sets a new standard for application-centric configurability, which empowers system integrators to cost effectively help their customers deploy a single system with a widely adaptable set of scenario capabilities.”
