Two Further RIO PATIVILCA-class for 2019
The Peruvian Navy (MGP) has contracted the Industrial Service of the Navy (SIMA PERU) to build two new patrol vessels for a total cost of US$55 million.
Construction of the two new vessels of the RIO PATIVILCA-class will commence at the SIMA Chimbote shipyard in June this year and the MGP anticipates commissioning them both by mid-2019. The previous four vessels in this class were manufactured by South Korean yard STX Offshore & Shipbuilding. The 55.3m vessels displace 500t, are powered by two Caterpillar 3516C diesels producing 3,345hp and enabling a top speed of 22kts: they are armed with a single 20mm autocannon.
