Restores IFR Capacity Lost 20 Years Ago
The Peruvian Air Force received two ex-Spanish KC-130H HERCULES tactical airlifters at Lima Air Base on 15 February. The aircraft have already become part of the establishment of Air Transport Group No. 8, which is based at Lima.
Squadron 842 already operates the Lockheed L-100-20 in the cargo transport role. The new HERCULES, which were modernised in Spain, will allow the service to regain its in-flight refueling (IFR) capacity, absent since the loss of the single Boeing 707 refueling aircraft some two decades ago.
The Spanish Air Force had put a total of ten HERCULES up for sale, five of them being KC-130H, of which two have been bought by Uruguay and two by Peru.
