Announcements have been made during DSEI 2023
Pearson Engineering (acquired by RAFAEL in 2022) has been awarded this week with a contract by KNDS (a holding between Krauss-Maffei Wegmann and Nexter Systems) to manufacture mission modules for the British Army’s BOXER Mechanised Infantry Vehicle, and another one by RAFAEL for its 30mm Remote Weapon Station (RWS). The announcements were made respectively on 12 and 13 September at DSEI 2023 in London.
As for the UK BOXER, Pearson Engineering will provide mission module hulls for the Armoured Personnel Carrier variant and its ‘daughter’ company, Responsive Engineering.
The company is already involved in developing critical components for several UK-armoured vehicle programmes, such as the Challenger 3 and AJAX. To enhance its overall manufacturing capabilities and capacity, it has recently announced over €5,8 million (£5 million) in capital investments.
“Having contributed to the original BOXER campaign in the UK, we are pleased to officially join the BOXER team and to play our part in delivering next-generation capability to the users of this vehicle,” said Richard Beatson, Business Development Director at Pearson Engineering.
He added that, to better honour its commitments, the company is “heavily” investing in people, manufacturing capabilities and its facility. “In the coming months, we will install a new 800t press brake, followed by a new 11m gantry milling machine, which will be the largest in Europe,” he added.
Meanwhile, Pearson Engineering will also play a role in RAFAEL SAMSON 30mm Remote Weapon Station (RWS) for UK programmes, which might potentially include BOXER UK.
The SAMSON 30mm RWS is an advanced remote-controlled weapon station incorporating sophisticated combat capabilities, including SPIKE, an anti-tank guided missile used by 20 NATO members. Its set-up also includes a partnership with EUROTROPHY to offer Tropy as a proven active protection system for Boxer.
