Order for 40 Takes Contract Value to €17.4 Million
Lockheed Martin has ordered 40 chassis kits from VINCORION for the PATRIOT Advanced Capability 3 (PAC-3) Enhanced Launcher Electronics System (ELES), the Wedel-based company announced on 19 January.
The order, with an approx. value of €8.4 million, represents an extension of one received in 2019, which brings total order value to €17.4 million. Delivery is scheduled to begin in June 2021.
The PAC-3 system is a technological upgrade to the ground-based PATRIOT missile and air defence system. The current configuration allows the use of 16 instead of the original four missiles – effectively quadrupling the firepower. In addition, the missiles feature greater agility and accuracy, due to being equipped with a radar homing head. This characteristic is a prerequisite for effectively intercepting cruise missiles and tactical ballistic missiles. The ELES is a key component of the upgrade.
VINCORION has been supplying ELES kits for the PAC-3 system since 1999, initially as a subcontractor to Daimler Chrysler Aerospace and later MBDA/GLVS. The company has been a first-tier supplier to Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control since 2012.
