Candidate for JGSDF Next Wheeled Armoured Vehicle Programme
Patria has sent an undisclosed number of its AMVXP 8×8 wheeled armoured vehicles to Japan for test purposes, the company announced on 16 December.
The vehicles are to be delivered to the Japanese MoD for testing against the Japan Ground Self Defence Force’s (JGSDF) Wheeled Armoured Personnel Carrier (WAPC) project under the MoD’s Next Wheeled Armoured Vehicle programme. Patria will provide all necessary support during the test series, after which the MoD will conduct an extensive evaluation exercise of candidate vehicles.
Patria stated its confidence that “Patria AMVXP meets all customer requirements.” Already contracted to deliver over 1,600 vehicles globally, Patria believes the vehicle’s superior mobility and protection, as well as a high degree of modularity coupled to excellent performance and reliability characteristics, make it ideally suited to a wide range of critical mission sets.
