$9.8million Deal Includes Terminals, Steerable Beams
The Italian Fire and Rescue Service – Corpo dei Vigili del Fuoco – has ordered 14 months of SATCOM services from Swedish mobile broadband provider, Ovzon.
The deal, which will see the service being stood up from March, is valued at $9.8million and includes 21 T6 On-the-Pause terminals and 21 On-the-Move terminals, both made by Ovzon. The service is being delivered co-operatively with Gomedia Satcom, Ovzon’s Italian partner, and will use Gomedia’s infrastructure and customer support centre in Catania.
“Fires are an increasing threat in Italy, as climate change factors become visible in areas such as the Mediterranean,” said Gaetano Morena, Gomedia Satcom’s CEO. “The complexity and risk to safety and rescue and disaster recovery operations requires reliable and fast communication and Ovzon’s satellite communication solutions is a perfect solution for this need.”
