Outdoor Research Shows INFILTRATOR Jacket

Using Gore’s FLEXtoFIT innovative new stretch technology

Outdoor Research’s INFILTRATOR Jacket is a new, high-tech, tactical garment that incorporates W. L. Gore & Associates, Inc.’s GORE-TEX fabric with Stretch Technology in strategic locations. This includes sections under the arms and across the back of the neck to provide full, unencumbered range of motion and situational awareness.

INFILTRATOR is one of 13 pieces in Outdoor Research’s Tactical Apparel Line, which includes everything from base layers to jacket and pants, and the INFILTRATOR jacket is the outer shell, using Gore’s innovative new stretch technology (FLEXtoFIT) to preserve athleticism, provide freedom of movement, and allow operators to layer up or down. Being windproof, waterproof and fitting closer to the body than traditional shell materials, it reduces bulk and weight, yet enables to be worn easily over body armour without restricting movement. The jacket pairs with the INFILTRATOR pants.

The INFILTRATOR Jacket is on display at SHOT Show 2018 on Outdoor Research booth #31000.

Not having had the chance to run this jacket through MONS Gear Box Testing, it is designed to be worn under a plate carrier, while the GORE-TEX FLEXtoFIT fabric under the arms and shoulder areas seems to make mobility while manipulating an assault rifle easy. The FLEXtoFIT panels offer great flexibility, and it seems that the flex panel at the base of the neck afforded unhindered movement when having the hood over a helmet.

Both hand pockets feature an ample zippered opening. Located low enough on the jacket to not be completely covered by a plate carrier yet high enough to access while wearing a harness. Additionally, these pockets feature a mesh interior that stretch to fit larger items like a water bottle. As well as provide some ventilation when unzipped. Located at the hem under the arms are a pair of vertical zippered vents. With YKK AquaGuard Vislon Zipper pulls located on the top and the bottom, the user can unzip in either direction based on ventilation requirements.
