First Firing of Northrop Grumman Lightweight 30mm from JLTV
Oshkosh Defense and several industrial partners recently participated in a successful firing of a JAVELIN anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) from a Kongsberg remote weapon station (RWS) on a Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) at Redstone Arsenal, AL, the company announced on 24 June.
“This successful demonstration further solidifies the importance of the JLTV’s position within the current combat fleet formation […] The JLTV is the only light tactical vehicle on the field today that can manoeuvre within combat formations, hauling critical weaponry and equipment quickly across complex terrain, all while keeping our troops safe and protected,” commented Oshkosh Defense Vice President/General Manager of Joint Programs, George Mansfield.
The demonstration marks the first-time firing of both the JAVELIN and Northrop Grumman’s lightweight 30mm cannon from an RWS on the JLTV. JAVELIN is an ATGM developed and manufactured by the Javelin Joint Venture, a partnership of Lockheed Martin and Raytheon.
