Ophir Optics Announces New Lenses

Specifically Designed for Aviation and Observation Applications

Ophir Optics Group, an MKS Instruments company, has launched new long-range, motorised continuous zoom lenses to enhance its family of precision products designed specifically for demanding applications in aviation and security.

The SupIR 45-900mm MWIR f/4.0 and SupIR 50-1350mm f/5.5 lenses are part of a larger collection of long-range, high-performance, thermal imaging lenses suited for 15 and 20µm VGA and 10µm HD formats, based on an open communication protocol that enables simple integration over a detection range of up to 26km, according to a company release on 16 April.

The new SupIR 45-900mm f/4 is part of Ophir’s family of continuous zoom lenses, providing narrowfield of view focal length ranges from 300-900mm, and horizontal field of view up to 0.6°. Based on the legacy SupIR 15-300mm MWIR f/4 zoom lens, with its proven track-record of thousands of units operating in the field and its ruggedized design, the 45-900mm f/4 delivers high image quality and accurate line of sight for long-range observation systems. All lenses use the same communication protocol to assure easy integration into existing camera systems. The Ophir MWIR f/4 family is designed to work with cameras that are either 15µm or 20µm VGA format, and with 10µm HD format.

Ophir’s new SupIR 50-1350mm f/5.5 is a state-of-the-art continuous zoom lens, specially designed for unmanned aerial systems (UAS) applications, as well as others in whichweight and size are critical. The lens is based on a cutting-edge folded optics design and provides a 27x zoom ratio, accurate line of sight, and is suited for VGA and HD formats.

Our new 45-900mm f/4 and 50-1350mm f/5.5 motorised zoom lenses are state-of-the-art, long-range continuous zoom lenses which deliver superior optical performance and are specifically designed to meet the exacting requirements of aviation and observation systems,“ commented Vice President and General Manager of Ophir Optics Group, Yitzhak Raif.
