High Fidelity Training for Transport Pilots
The Colombian Air Force’s Air Transport Military Command (CATAM) has acquired three flight simulators in order to strengthen pilot training. They include an Entrol A11/B350GT FTD model, an Alsim-ALX and a Virtual Avionics Procedures Trainer (VAPT); which have state-of-the-art systems enabling effective training of the institution’s transport crews.
The simulators are exact replicas of: a Beechcraft 350 Super King Air cockpit in the case of the Entrol; the Alsim simulates a light/medium jet cabin; and the VAPT simulates a multifunctional Boeing cabin.
These devices replicate instruments, avionics and functions, ensuring optimal crew training, as well as enabling instructor training and strengthening operational safety – one of the Air Force’s key priorities. The simulators now allow the crews of the Super King Air, Boeing 727, 737 and 767 aircraft to become familiar with any aerodrome and landscape of the world; to exercise routine and emergency procedures; and to conduct risk assessment before training flights.
