Applying Swarm Technologies to Perimeter Security
US-based Aquabotix Technology Corp will be debuting its SwarmDiver EDGE solution at NAVDEX on 20 February.
The latest addition to the SwarmDiver family of micro-unmanned underwater vessels (micro-UUV), which the company launched just a year ago, EDGE is designed to provide a visual boundary for perimeter security – helping to secure areas such as harbours, loading/docking areas, marinas and critical infrastructure from manned or unmanned seaborne attack. Swarms of EDGE micro-UUVs act as a first line of deterrence, their high intensity lights creating a visual boundary that negates much of the stealth on which such attacks often rely for success.
The ‘secret sauce’ for Aquabotix lies in the communications protocols and algorithms that allow for efficient, seamless communications among large numbers of the robotic devices, thus allowing group decision-making and appropriate behaviour in response to an evolving security breach.
