Five-Year ISS Contract to Run Till 2027
Lockheed Martin Canada, as prime systems integrator for the New Zealand MoD ANZAC Frigate Systems Upgrade programme, has contracted Navantia to provide in-service support (ISS) for its DORNA gun control unit (GCU) on the two Royal New Zealand Navy (RNZN) ANZAC frigates, HMNZS Te Kaha and Te Mana, as part of their systems upgrade.
The DORNA GCU controls the MK45 Mod2 main armament on both vessels. HMNZS Te Kaha completed her upgrade in Canada in November 2020, returned to New Zealand in December 2020, and conducted her first post-upgrade deployment in autumn 2021. HMNZS Te Mana completed her upgrade in May 2022, and is scheduled to return to New Zealand in July.
The contract covers the first five years of in-service support, until 2027. Services provided by Navantia, among others, include a 24/7 help desk and obsolescence management, using an application developed by Navantia to monitor possible parts obsolescence in real time.
