Navantia Delivers Sovereign Sustainment Capability to RAN

Test and Development of all IPMS Hardware and Software

Navantia Australia has upped the ante in predictive maintenance and defect analysis, with the recent installation of a Through Life Support Facility (TLSF) for the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) at Garden Island East, Sydney.

The facility is a multipurpose open architecture system that enables testing and development of integrated platform management system (IPMS) hardware and software to be conducted onshore. It replicates the IPMS hardware and software installed on-board the CANBERAA-Class LHD/AOR ships, and is a key enabler for the optimisation of maintenance and platform availability through capture and analysis of real data and proactive obsolescence management.

The facility marks another step forward in delivering Australian sovereign sustainment capability, according to Navantia Australia’s Managing Director, Israel Lozano Barragán. “The ability to maintain design integrity, configuration control, upgrades and modernisation of all Navantia-designed ships and supplied systems and equipment, including the IPMS, in Australia, is a key capability developed in Navantia Australia to support CASG and the Royal Australian Navy’s fleet.”

Leveraging its pedigree in platform system design and integration, and as original equipment manufacturer for the IPMS on all Navantia-designed vessels in RAN service, Navantia Australia is uniquely positioned to provide substantial risk-based solutions for the RAN’s sustainment challenges. The TLSF is also capable of centralising the operational data stored by the IPMS and providing data analysis services.
