Naval Group Selects Navigation Systems From iXblue for Export GOWINDs

Naval Group of France has selected iXblue to deliver navigation systems for GOWIND corvettes destined for the export market. Two corvettes will be fitted with iXblue’s MARINS inertial navigation system (INS) product and NETANS data distribution and processing units, Naval Group announced on 2 July. The contract underlines the long-standing collaboration between the shipbuilder and iXblue, the latter was selected for numerous French and international programmes. When fitted with the sophisticated equipment, the two corvettes will benefit from extremely reliable, efficient and secure navigational information, even when signals provided by global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) are not available, jammed or spoofed, according to iXblue’s Director of the Navigation Division, Benoit Kerouanton.

As told, iXblue’s navigation solutions are already fitted to over 650 surface and subsurface platforms in more than 40 navies and coast guards. Major programmes include the FDI (Frégate de Défense et d‘Intervention) new-construction programme undertaken by Naval Group for the Marine Nationale, in addition to the Royal Navy’s Astute class nuclear-powered fleet/attack submarines and Queen Elizabeth class aircraft carriers, as well as the German Navy’s Type F122 (Bremen class) and Type F123 (Brandenburg class) frigates.
