MSPO 2018: Soucy Pushing Composite Rubber Tracks

Solution on Show on BORSUK IFV

Soucy’s Defence Division is displaying its composite rubber track (CRT) armoured vehicle mobility solution at MSPO this week mounted on a BORSUK infantry fighting vehicle (IFV).

In partnership with Huta Stalowa Wola (HSW), Soucy has installed the CRT system on the BORSUK, a highly manoeuvrable and amphibious vehicle developed for the Polish Army. The CRT consists of a continuously cased rubber band structure, reinforced with a range of composite materials and steel cord, providing a weight saving of up to 50% when compared with conventional steel track. In addition to the potential to reduce vehicle gross weight, CRT provides users with additional advantages: up to 70% in vibration reduction, resulting in greater crew comfort and prolonging the life of onboard electronic systems; noise reduction of up to 13 dB, improving crew communication and situational awareness while reducing the vehicle’s acoustic signature.

BORSUK (or BADGER) has been designed as a replacement for the BWP-1 (the Polish variant of the Soviet BMP-1 IFV), of which the Polish Army currently operates approx. 1,300. A series production decision for BORSUK is anticipated for 2019.
