Joint 4×4 Vehicle to be Presented at MSPO Next Year
On the first day of MSPO 202 in Kielce, Poland, Huta Stalowa Wola (HSW), a company of the Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (PGZ) Group, signed an agreement with Czech firm Tatra Export to design and develop a light 4×4 vehicle. The agreement allows for domestic production in Poland. HSW will act as project leader.
HSW indicated the vehicle will be offered to the Polish Armed Forces in several tenders and that it is intended to be the base platform for a wide variety of specialized variants. The initial principal role envisaged is that of battery/platoon level command vehicle for LANGUSTA multiple rocket launchers and KRYL self-propelled howitzers (SPH). Revealing that a prototype vehicle will be presented in public at MSPO 2021, the companies also stated that the vehicle could be offered to third parties.
The two companies are also collaborating in Poland’s PEGAZ programme, which aims to procure multi-role vehicles for the nation’s Special Forces.
HSW also announced that it expects to sign an agreement with BAE Systems in the near future. This will enable HSW to offer its KRAB 155mm SPH to foreign customers – BAE Systems supplies HSW with the KRAB turret and will henceforth include the Polish company in its global supply chain.
