MSPO 2019 Preview: Rafael Showcases Next-Generation Solutions

Air and Ground Systems for Multi-Domain Operations

Israel’s Rafael Advanced Defense Systems will showcase a range of next-generation solutions at MSPO 2019 in Kielce, Poland, 3-6 September.

Among its flagship airborne products will be the I-PYTHON and I-DERBY air-to-air missiles, the SPICE family of smart air-to-ground munitions, RECCELITE XR and LITENING 5 electro-optical pods, BNET software defined radio (SDR) system and the LITESHIELD and SKYSHIELD electronic warfare solutions.

The BNET SDR offers excellent connectivity, enhancing battlefield information exchange. Providing simultaneous voice, data and video communication, BNET offers a breakthrough in capacity, scalability and low latency. In combination with FIRE WEAVER, a revolutionary fire management system, recently unveiled and demonstrated in a number of European countries, BNET constitutes Rafael’s solution for the digitalisation programmes of modern ground forces.

In the ground domain, the company is pitching its SPIKE family of missiles to be integrated onto Polish armoured vehicles as part of the army’s modernization programme for vehicle-mounted anti-tank capability. The family of fifth-generation missiles is in service in 33 nations, with more than 30,000 missiles supplied and over 45 different launch platforms integrated. It is one of the most commonly-used and mature anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) systems in the world. SPIKE ER2 will compete in the army’s programme in versions suited for vehicular operations or launched from the upgraded Mi-24 and Sokol helicopters – and their replacements

Rafael will also exhibit the following systems:

• SPYDER family of short- and medium-range air defence systems, using the I-DERBY and PYTHON-5 missiles;

• DRONE DOME – an innovative end-to-end drone detection and neutralisation system, designed to provide effective airspace defence against hostile drones;

• TROPHY – the world’s only combat-proven active protection system (APS) for armoured vehicles, installed on the Israeli MERKAVA and NAMER and recently procured by the US Army for the Abrams

• IMILITE multi-source, multi-task imagery exploitation system that receives, processes and exploits multiple standalone video and other intelligence data in a centralised, unified manner.
