Filling gap between heavy vehicles & light vehicles
During MSPO 2017, AMZ Kutno presented the latest variant of the TUR-5 (AUROCHS in English) light high-mobility multi-purpose vehicle (4×4). The first version of the TUR-5 variant was unveiled during MSPO 2015 as a proposal for Poland’s new medium wheeled vehicle (codenamed PEGAZ), which would fill a gap between heavy vehicles (8×8 and 6×6) and light vehicles (HMMWV).
The TUR-5 from MSPO 2017 is smaller than a previous variant – its length is 5.8 meters, while its width is 2.5 meters. The maximum height is 2.4 meters. A previous version’s dimensions were 6.2 meters (length), 2.56 meters (width) and 2.66 meters (height). Axes span in both variants is 3,5 meters. TUR-5’s weight is 9 tons, while its payload is 2 tons. This vehicle is equipped with the Iveco N60 ENT-C (280 hp) engine with Allison 3000SP gearbox (the previous TUR-5 had the MTU 6R 106 TD21 326 hp engine but the same gearbox). Its declared ballistic protection meets Level 2 of STANAG 4569, while its mine-protection is equal to Level 3a. Its maximum speed is 110 km/h (paved roads), and maximum range is 600 km (paved roads) or 400 km (rough terrain). TUR-5 can be equipped with machine guns (including a remotely-controlled station).
As before, also during MSPO 2017 the AMZ Kutno presented the HIPOPOTAM (HIPPOPOTAMUS) wheeled (8×8) amphibious APC. It is designed as a vehicle not only for military forces but also for civilian agencies, including those responsible for crisis management. Its gross weight is 26 tonnes, with a maximum weight of 32 tonnes (amphibious capabilities are maintained with a weight up to 29 tonnes).
