On 20 March, SBG Systems unveiled its EKINOX 2 series of inertial navigation systems (INS) at the US Hydro Show in Galveston, TX.

The original EKINOX line of tactical grade MEMS-bases INS was launched in 2013. With new accelerometers and gyroscopes integrated into an entirely redesigned inertial measurement unit, the second generation EKINOX 2 series features accuracy improved by a factor of two, for the same form factor and price level.

Offering 0.02° roll and pitch, 0.05° heading, and centimetre-level positioning accuracy, EKINOX 2 is ideal for demanding application such as hydrography, mobile mapping and antenna tracking, etc. With new accelerometers, this new generation has also significantly improved its resistance to vibration; furthermore, the addition of the BEIDOU constellation improves signal availability in Asia.

The EKINOX 2 Series is ITAR free and will be available during the second quarter of 2017.
