Ab initio Training with 6 Bell206 JETRANGERs
Motorflug (part of Airbus Helicopters) began ab initio helicopter training for the Bundeswehr at the Internationales Hubschrauberausbildungszentrum (IHAZ – International Helicopter Training Centre) at Buckeburg in mid-March. The company is using six Bell206 JETRANGERs to provide the service.
Following the Bundeswehr’s decision to discontinue using BO105s and bearing in mind the relative complexity of the most basic helicopter remaining in the fleet – the EC135/EC635 – Motorflug won a four-year contract in December 2016 to provide a variety of training procedures, including autorotation to the ground.
Anticipated flight hours during the contract total 15,400, equating to 650hrs per aircraft per annum. The first aircraft has already been delivered and the others are receiving minor avionics modifications prior to delivery.
