Saab Provides Swedish Navy With Additional Trackfire RWS

After having received an order from the Swedish Defence Material Administration (FMV) in August 2017 to provide an undisclosed number of TRACKFIRE Remote Weapon Stations (RWS) for Royal Swedish Navy’s Combat Boat 90s (Strb90 HSM), Saab recently received an additional order for TRACKFIRE RWS to be installed on Strb90 HSMs used by the navy’s amphibian forces.

Delivery of the first batch is slated to take place from the third quarter of 2018 to Q3 2019. The financial details of the deal have not been disclosed.

Earlier this year Saab received another order for TRACKFIRE RWS, as Patria awarded approx. $117.7 million to Saab for work in support of the Finnish Navy’s Squadron 2000 mid-life upgrade programme, slated to begin this year and have Saab provide the RWS, 9LV combat management system and 9LV fire control systems.

TRACKFIRE RWS has a very flexible construction that can be adapted to the customers’ needs. A combination of sensors, weapons and integration options for different platforms, in the naval- and ground domains, are available. This RWS forms part of Saab’s portfolio of fire control products, together with UTAAS (Universal Tank and Anti-Aircraft Sight) for Combat Vehicle 90. The products share common technology and sub-systems such as the Fire Control Computer, Video Tracking Module, Recoil Buffer and Stabilisation Technology.
