German Police installs RWS in Vehicles
As part of modernising and expanding their fleet of armoured vehicles German Federal Police (Bundespolizei) has ordered 42 Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) FLW100 remote-controlled weapon stations (RWS), which will include a Heckler & Koch MG5 A1 7.62mm machine gun. According to news sources these will be mounted onBundespolizei General Dynamics European Land Systems (GDELS) EAGLE IV protected vehicles and Mercedes-Benz ENOK 6.1 Light Armored Patrol Vehicles (LAPV), provided by Armoured Car Systems (ACS).
The first 21 will be delivered around mid-2019, while the other lot are an option to be exercised frpm that date on, if the Bundespolizei aquires 21 new vehicles. The use is said to be mainly for airport security, while the ENOK 6.1 is also to be used in serious situations like terrorist attacks.
