Elbit Systems Pitches Micro Multi-Rotor VTOL Drone for Manoeuvring Forces
Highly mobile land forces depend on real-time intelligence. Elbit Systems‘ approach is an unmanned multi-rotor platform concept that thanks to a highly miniaturised camera enables day/night 3D intelligence at squad, platoon and company levels. The manufacturer also envisages paramilitary and special forces as potential users of this innovative technology. The platform, which is named MAGNI, is essentially a VTOL (vertical take-off and landing) system forces can deploy as a cost-effective tactical system from any tactical or command and control (C2) vehicle. Erez Meir, CEO of Israel-based Flying Productions Ltd., confirmed that, with Elbit Systems’ mission control software, the air vehicle can be employed for a wide variety of missions, including close range surveillance and reconnaissance, security (e.g. field camp protection) and automatic targeting tracking. The clue with Elbit Systems’ mission control software is that it contains an open protocol, which enables modifications for UAV integration on all types of operational scenarios and payloads. According to the company, dual S-band and LTE communications help provide real-time intelligence for a full combat picture.
